1. Acceptance of These Terms
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of hayatembodiedtherapy.com (the “Website”) operated by Hayat Embodied Therapy (“we,” “us,” “our”). By accessing or using this Website — including reading any page, submitting a form, or booking a consultation — you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website.
These Terms apply to your use of the Website only. Therapy services are governed separately by a written Informed Consent and Service Agreement signed before therapy begins.
2. About Our Practice
Hayat Embodied Therapy is an online psychotherapy practice based in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, owned and operated by Laiba Hayat, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). As a Qualifying registrant, our practitioner practices under clinical supervision as required by the CRPO. Registration status can be verified on the CRPO Public Register at crpo.ca.

3. Eligibility
By using this Website, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old (or accessing it with a parent/guardian’s involvement) and have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms.
4. Website Content Is Not Therapeutic Advice
All content on this Website — including service pages, blog posts, FAQs, and any other materials — is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not a diagnosis, assessment, treatment, or clinical recommendation, and it is not a substitute for professional mental health, medical, or other licensed care.
Using this Website, contacting us, or attending a free consultation does not create a therapist–client relationship. That relationship is formed only after intake, written informed consent, and the start of scheduled sessions accepted by both parties. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider regarding any concerns about your mental or physical health.
5. Mental Health Emergencies — Important Notice
We are not a crisis service or a 24/7 emergency service. We do not monitor messages in real time and cannot guarantee a response time.
If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health emergency — including thoughts of suicide, self-harm, or harm to others — please do not use this Website. Instead:
- Call 9-1-1 or go to your nearest emergency department.
- Call or text 9-8-8 (Suicide Crisis Helpline, Canada).
- Contact your local crisis line, family physician, or community mental health team.
By using this Website, you acknowledge these limitations and agree to seek emergency help through the appropriate services.
6. Online Therapy — Scope and Limitations
Therapy is provided online (virtual) only; we do not offer in-person sessions. You acknowledge that:
- Our practitioner is registered in Ontario; whether services can be provided to you may depend on your location at the time of each session, which we will discuss during intake.
- You are responsible for having a stable internet connection, a compatible device, and a private space for sessions.
- We use reasonable safeguards to protect online sessions, but we cannot control the privacy of the physical space from which you join.
- Online therapy is not appropriate for everyone or for every concern. We may recommend in-person care, a different provider, or a higher level of care if that is in your best interest.
A free initial consultation is a brief, no-obligation conversation to assess fit; it is not a therapy session and creates no therapist–client relationship. Acceptance of any new client is at the practitioner’s professional discretion.
7. Fees, Payment, and Insurance
Session fees, payment methods, and cancellation policies are confirmed in writing in your Informed Consent and Service Agreement before therapy begins. References on this Website to “insurance plans accepted” mean that some clients may be reimbursed through private insurance or extended health benefits. Coverage is not guaranteed. You are solely responsible for verifying your coverage with your insurance provider, understanding plan limits, and submitting your own claims unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.
8. Confidentiality and Its Limits
We protect the confidentiality of information shared during therapy in accordance with CRPO standards, the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (Ontario) (“PHIPA”), and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (Canada) (“PIPEDA”).
By law and professional standards, confidentiality has limits. Information may be disclosed without your consent in situations including: a reasonable belief that a child or vulnerable person is at risk; a reasonable belief of imminent serious harm to you or another identifiable person; a subpoena or court order; a CRPO investigation or proceeding; mandatory reporting of sexual abuse by a regulated health professional; and clinical supervision (a CRPO requirement for Qualifying registrants), with identifying details limited where possible. Full details are reviewed during intake.
For Website data practices, see our Privacy Policy.
9. Communications
Email, SMS, and web forms are not fully secure — messages can be intercepted or misdirected, and we do not recommend sharing detailed clinical information through these channels. We do not monitor messages outside business hours, and contacting us does not create any obligation on us to provide services. Never use email, text, or web forms for urgent or emergency matters (see Section 5).
10. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Website for unlawful purposes; misrepresent your identity; attempt unauthorized access; introduce viruses or malicious code; scrape content using automated tools; copy or republish content without permission; or submit false, harassing, or otherwise inappropriate content. We may suspend or terminate your access if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms.
11. Intellectual Property
All content on this Website — including text, images, graphics, logos, and the name “Hayat Embodied Therapy” — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by Canadian and international copyright and trademark law. You are granted a limited, personal, non-commercial licence to view the Website. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, or commercially use any content without our prior written permission.
12. Third-Party Links and Testimonials
Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience only; we do not control or endorse their content, and you visit them at your own risk. Any client comments or testimonials reflect individual experiences and are not guarantees that any other person will experience similar results. Outcomes from therapy depend on many personal factors, and we do not guarantee any specific outcome.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Website is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Website will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any content will be accurate, complete, or current. We disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, except where prohibited by law.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hayat Embodied Therapy and its founder, employees, contractors, and supervisors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, or distress — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Website or any content on it.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amount you have paid us for services in the three (3) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or CAD $100, whichever is greater. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be lawfully limited, including under mandatory consumer protection legislation.
15. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Hayat Embodied Therapy and its personnel from claims arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Website, or your violation of any law or third-party rights — except to the extent caused by our own negligence or wrongful conduct.
16. Changes, Termination, and Governing Law
We may update these Terms from time to time; the “Last Updated” date will reflect changes, and continued use of the Website after changes are posted means you accept them. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Website at any time. Provisions intended to survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — will continue to apply.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario. Subject to any mandatory rights you have under local consumer protection law, disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, Canada.
17. Regulatory Concerns
Our practitioner is regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). If you have a concern about the conduct of a Registered Psychotherapist that you believe should be reviewed by the College, information on raising a concern is available at crpo.ca.
18. General
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of it. You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our consent. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any signed Informed Consent and Service Agreement, form the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Website.
